Ever wonder why so many people use a symbol of a fish to represent their faith? This symbol has been used for the past two thousand years to identify believers. It is called the "Ichthys" not only because that is the Greek word for "fish" but also because each of these letters represent the person of Jesus. 

I - Iesou, the word for Jesus
X - Christos, the word for Christ
Θ - Theou, the word for God
Y - Yios, the word for Son
S - Soter, the word for Saviour


These letters would sometimes be inscribed inside the two arches that make up the fish and serves as a reminder that we worship "Jesus Christ, the Son of God, our Saviour."
